Nerdy Show Prime: Bustin’ with Central Florida Ghostbusters – Part 1

Last year, the Central Florida Ghostbusters saved Orlando, and most likely the world, from an ancient evil that manifested a pyramid atop the arts district… You may have heard about it.

We’ve been trying to get these guys on the show for ages, and we’ve finally got em’! Join Cap for a paranormal Halloween treat with The Central Florida Ghostbusters: La Forge, Wall, Briggs, Poole, and their General Manager (and Nerdy Show host) Doug. What started as a chill night interviewing the crew at their firehouse turns into a Cops-style ride-along with the Ghostbusters as they head out on a call. Not only do we discuss some of the finer points about ghost busting and this illustrious crew’s adventures, we ask Orlando’s finest to discuss eerie, fan-chosen topics: The SCP Foundation and Fear Tourism. It’s just another day-in-the-life for the GBs, but for Cap it’s a night he’ll never forget.

It's also safe to say that we were more than a little inspired by the guys behind Ghostbustin' 911. Love that show.

Nerdy Show Prime: Bustin’ with Central Florida Ghostbusters – Part 2

Our ride-along with the Central Florida Ghostbusters continues! If you missed Part 1, just click here to get caught up.

Cap and Doug were only setting out to interview the Ghostbusters, but now they’re out on a call with them… to an abandoned hospital! But busting ghosts isn’t all ectoplasmic glitz and glamor – this is just a routine call typically placed by practical jokers and the paranoid. Yet, as they enter the hospital, something seems different. Hear the Ghostbusters try to spook themselves and their tag-alongs, discussing the fan chosen topic: Horror Games as they creep carefully through darkened corridors. And after a job well done the gang retires to The Geek Easy for some grilled cheeses and the final fan topic: Horror Movies.

ez_aquarii wrote:when the players take damage, how do you figure out how many trait/brownie points they lose?
It depends on how bad the Ghost Master says the damage is. For the most part, we follow the examples laid out on this page of the Training Manual.

Another way to think of it is using the UHM scale which is usually for determining the difficulty of a task. But if you think of it for determining how well someone succeeds, then you can also use it to determine how bad a Ghostbuster has been hit.

For example, a pirate ghost swings a real sword at a ghostbuster. Let's say the pirate needs to roll n 8 or higher to hit. The GM rolls, and the pirate gets a 22. Since they rolled "14" higher than was needed, we'll look at the UHM scale, and see that "14" counts as "Lots." So it'll do 4 traits worth of damage or 6 brownie points.

Level of success on a hit
0-3 (Very Little)
4-8 (Small)
9-13 (Good Amount)
14-18 (Lots)
19-29 (Whole Lots)
30+ (More Than You Can Imagine)

Traits Damaged
1 (VL)
2 (S)
3 (GA)
4 (L)
5 (WL)
6+ (MTYCI)

BP needed to avoid the damage
- (VL)
2 (S)
4 (GA)
6 (L)
9 (WL)
13+ (MTYCI)

Does this help? Sorry I'm a little late responding.

Episode 13: Ghost Riders

As the Central Florida Ghostbusters cross the border into Slovakia, they soon notice things are terribly wrong. The village at the foot of Bathory’s castle has been cut off from the outside world. Low level spirits freely roam the streets and surrounding woods. And somewhere in the darkness… waits a horseman. One who is loyal to Bathory, supplies her with fresh children from the village, and will kill anyone who gets in his way. They have the tools, they have the talent, but can they stop him in time? If they fail, heads will roll.

After a two month hiatus, we're back!

Episode 14: Castle Crashers

The Ghostbusters continue their march up the mountain, but if they want to reach Bathory’s castle, they’ll have to go through the horrific un-dead horseman. After so many brushes with death and not enough Brownie Points to go around – it’ll be a struggle just to stay alive! The odds may seem stacked against them, but if they’ve learned anything, it’s that a little “cool” can go a long way. Dig deep and try to conjure up some “positive vibes” for the boys in beige. They’re gonna need it.

Episode 15: Fur On

Finally inside Bathory’s castle, the Ghostbusters confidently stride into the main throne room eagerly looking for trouble. Meeting “Liz” herself is no big deal. Powerful Class 7s are nothing new to our heroes. But when Bathory reveals that the International Busters are now under her command – the gang quickly realizes that busting The Blood Countess may not be such a piece of cake. They came prepared to fight the enemy, but how could they ever fight their friends?

Special shout out to Matasm for the awesome artwork!

Episode 16: My Big Fat Carpathian Wedding

Locked in a dungeon and awaiting their impending sacrifice, things couldn’t get worse for the Central Florida Ghostbusters. However, our heroes may still have a chance of surviving if they can just stall the wedding for a few precious minutes. But since Bathory has chosen Briggs to be the next vessel for Vigo, this will take crackerjack timing, and a whole lot of brownie points. Can the Ghostbusters defeat Vigo and save the world a second time? Find out in Season 2’s action-packed finale!

As always, special thanks to Matasm for the awesome artwork!

I've just finished season 1, and had a blast. I don't know how edited these episodes are, and from the video I saw on the website you and your players sometimes have game scenarios that don't make it onto the show (or you did), but you know you are doing something right when the tension ramps up, the action ramps up, and everybody's blood gets pumping.

Fun times, guys!

Where can I go to see the cover-art larger? You've got a doozy of an artist, there!

All of our Season 2 cover art (and equipment cards) have been done by Matasm. You can check out his deviantART gallery here. We've also had a couple of promotional images done by Vee. You can check out the main one we used as our show banner in her art thread here.
